Money saving tip's for the fashion lovers

Today I thought I'd put together a post full of some of my favourite websites and 'top tips' on being able to wear the 'latest' while saving money without your bank balance crying out. Along with Fashion Voucher's. If many of you are student's like me you'll tend to watch the pennies, but even if you're not and still frugal then hopefully it will be helpful!

One of my go to and all time favourite websites for saving money, I love Ebay.
While browsing I often find item's that I've seen on 'High street websites' and in shop's,  so I'm guessing they often have the same supplier. The difference is the price, alot of the time it's half the price or more of in stores which is a bonus, right? My favourite purchases are a black dip-hem skirt which I brought for the grand total of £3, yes £3... I've paid more for a sandwich for lunch! (outfit post soon!) a silver necklace seen in this post which I've spotted in many shop's for £8-14, I paid £2. I also love my Spiked Loafer's which were £13, very like the Topshop Vectra's but different stud's and my all time favourite purchase, the nightwalker dupes (image below) now in shops for around £40, I paid £20 something!
Other amazing find's are the Studded 'Alexander Wang' inspired bag much loved by Blogger's, Lita look-alikes, the Zara messenger bag, and the studded Zara blouse. Lot's of pretty 'vintage' inspired jewellery can be found for such low prices too, all you need to do is search!

Secretsales is what it say's. This website is a member only one, but signing up is oh so simple. Just fill in your email, a password and be greeted with an email newsletter of up and coming sales everyday.
They have a range of sales from accessories, shoes, clothes and even sometimes homeware.
They have Desinger sales going live every day and lasting for only 4 day's. Order's placed are then sent to their supplier, shipped to them and then to you so it take's a little longer for delivery. This may mean the number's of each item are higher so won't run out of stock as it may not be on an inventory system, although there will be a cut off point so get in quick for the best bit's!
They recently had an American Apparel sale, where a pair of legging's were down from £37 to £13, ooh bargain! and also their jersey skirt's. The saving's are actually really good, delivery is a little pricey but the saving's are still good.

An amazing website for saving. They sell old stock from High st stores including Boohoo, Topshop, Matalan etc. Item's that have slight wear, one's that are returned and un-able to be sold or possibly put on the shop floor or even stock that didn't sell at all and needed to be moved for fresh new one's. The prices are ridiculously good for some of the item's. There's many thing's I've spotted I love on there.
On each item they tell you the wear of them and often photograph it so you can see. Label's are removed so you are un-able to return it to original stores. It's also great if you were un-able to pick up an item in store, plus bargain prices.

Yes, everything really is 5 of your british pound's. You could buy a dress, shoes & a clutch for a party all just for £15, in many high street store's that wouldn't even buy your shoes. They have lot's to choose from, I still can't believe everything is £5, that's certainly a bargain. My favourites are the dresses they have, lot's to choose from and actually wearable too!

A great website for a money saver like me, I always always go on here and fashionvouchers.com when I'm ordering online, mainly because if I can save as little as a few pound's with a discount code I will, all add's up! Once I was ordering from Debenhams and spent an hour googling for codes and I ended up saving quite a bit on ordering some Mac goodies, so even my 'treat purchase' I saved. It paid off (pun un-intended! ;)) I may be a little weird for doing so but It saved me my pennies. You can organise it in categories, websites you're looking for codes of etc. They range from % off codes, free delivery and 'save x amount when you spend x amount' They're very handy websites and my go to's every time.

A website full of lovely item's with the up to date 'trends' yet for affordable prices, even non-sale item's!
They have a big range of dresses and clothes to choose from, I love websites that offer nice clothes for suitable prices. This website is definitely one to have a browse on!

Boot's have actually had this website for a while now, I always check on there before I order online just to see if they have the website listed which I'm ordering from. You sign in using your Boot's card and very much like in store you can receive Boot's point's from ordering from certain website's such as Matalan, Ebay, Topman (un-fortunately they don't have Topshop, I don't think?) etc. The full list is on their website. They also regularly have special deal's on there such as Free Delivery and what not. You must sign in and purchase through the Treat Street website for it to register and then go to a Card Machine in Store to transfer the Point's. Worth receiving some point's if you're going to order anyway!

Top tip's:

-Sign up to website and brand newsletter's. They often send out newsletter's when they have special offer's, money saving's, codes and sales. Especially handy in the Festive season for full on saving's.

- Browse the Magazine 'Classifieds' they used to be in Newspaper's but now Magazines have them with lot's of advertising space, they often include money off code's / free delivery for fashion websites, always worth a look!

-Look in charity shop's! This is actually something I love to do and always pop in when I see one. The biggest bargain I've found was a fur coat reduced from £10 to £5, they tend to be in the upper of £50+ in 'Vintage places.'
Be imaginative, that 'granny dress' can be turnt into a chic little dress. Cut it shorter, hem it, customize with some vintage button's, even dye it another colour all together and voila! Charity shop's are now taking to technology and have their own websites now which are worth a look on.

-Buy out of season, of course shop's want to make room for their summer wear, no-one will have winter coat's on their list's when the sun is shining. Minus me of course, I like the fact they reduce them quite a bit, and like to be prepared, there's nothing wrong with buying it and storing it until you need it, especially when they'll most probably bring it back next year at the higher RRP.

-Google for Discount codes or free delivery. Usually I type something like "*website name* discount code *month* 2012" It can often take some time to search but worth it. The voucher websites listed above regularly update as well, so worth checking first.

-Check the brand's Facebook & Twitter's, websites like to offer deal's to their fan's so often post them here, Miss Guided do this sometimes and offer great one's like 'Free next day delivery'

I hope this post was helpful to at least one person, Fashion really doesn't have to cost so much money, it's how you choose to wear the item's not the price tag.

What's your tip's to frugal fashion?

Trip to London Olympic run up

The other day we made a little trip to London town, London is my favourite place!

Being only 4 day's until the Olympic's starting the tube was surprisingly empty, out of all area's the Tower of London was so busy, only when we got home we saw that there was a Taxi driver protest & someone actually jumped off the bridge?!
Friday was storm's and then Monday hot hot hot sun, I actually burnt *sadface* and crazy me wore tight's and boot's.
Also had a lush time in Covent Garden's high-fiving the guy on the street who dressed in gold in the photo up there and browsing round, buying Lush goodies, popping in the beautiful Laduree shop to buy some Macaroon's, going in American Apparel for the 1st time ever and seeing the Pixiwoo sister's.

I want to go back already and shop in some market's!
What's your favourite thing to do in London?

What I wore

Jumper- Topshop / Skirt- Miss Guided / Necklace- Ebay

I love this skirt from Miss Guided so much, I've worn it a few time's in post's on here. It's so versatile and just perfect for me. It did take me a while to search for the right 'black skirt' that I could easily pair with everything and this is it- they do have a few more colour's too which are tempting. I may even purchase a second in black as a 'just in case' purchase as I love it so much.
This jumper fall's quite un-usually so I tend to tuck it in or wear it with skinny jean's as it can make you look alot larger then you are, it's just the way it fall's, it's lovely though- I brought it last year. I used to be obsessed with Topshop when I was 14-16 especially their skinny jean's, it would be the only place I'd buy them as I was so short they were holygrail, but I suppose with age I've become more frugal and find other lovely pieces somewhere else cheaper and customize it myself, still a huge lover of Topshop though.

My necklace finally came from China, I've been after a 'collar' necklace for ages now. I really love the rose gold one from H&M too, but my little ebay searching got me this for only £2, bargainnnn.  Have some other pretty thing's which should be arriving soon which I can't wait for, anyone else get excited at post? I most probably won't when I'm older... bills!

My nail art was also in Look magazine today which is so exciting!

Olympic inspired nails & exciting news- Manicure Monday

First photo: 'Ombre Olympic torch', Gold medal, Tennis, Olympic Ring's, Quarter of the Union flag.

Barry m- "Blue Glitter' / ELF- "Smoky Brown" / Nails Inc- "Atomic" / Models Own- "Juicy Jules" / Orly- "Nude" / Nail art pen's

Phew, that's alot of polishes!
A few week's ago Collection announced they're running an Olympic themed nail art competition for blogger's. Of course I jumped at the chance to get involved, I love nail art!
All you had to do was create design's on your nail's, use at-least two nail polishes from their range and send them in. You could create as many nail's as you wanted but only one could be accepted per person.
The Collection team would then choose their 5 favourite design's and upload them to their facebook page and allow fan's to choose their favourite to win by 'liking' and sharing the photo.
I started by wanting to do the obvious e.g the Olympic ring's and possibly the Union flag, but I also wanted to 'try' and do something different. Annoyingly the day before i went to paint my nail's they broke so i had to cut them short :( mad dash to get some blank false ones from the shop as mine were impossible to do anything on, They still took me forever to paint on myself though.

Well, I found out my entry was chosen as one of the 5, I was so excited! I didn't think mine would get chosen at all.
The voting start's today (23rd July) on their facebook page and voting will run until Tuesday 31st July.
Of course you don't have to vote for my nail's but I'd love you it if you gave mine a 'like' (only if you like them obviously!)

If any of you would like to see any tutorial's on how I did any of the nail's or what polish was used for which nails let me know in the comment's!

I posted how to do 'ombre' nail's here the other day, I used exactly the same technique for the 'flame torch' thumb.

Please click here to 'like' my photo if you like my nail's!

Natural Collection lipstick - Sweet Pea

Boot's- £1.99

Natural collection is actually a boot's brand, most product's are £1.99 which is very good value for the quality you get, they also occasionally run 3 for 2 deal's which is even better. I love their blushers & their lipstick's the most. My mum and I actually swatched and picked this up a while ago as we was trying to find a dupe/replacement for a tinted lip balm Nivea used to do but couldn't find anymore.
It's a perfect little lippie and an even better everyday one.
It can be worn sheer but also quite opaque too, in some light's it can look quite peachy, then quite a dark pink but it also has a light pink sheen to it in the light too (bottom swatch)

I love this lipstick, it's so pretty.  At £1.99 it's amazing, I actually choose and use this much more then my Mac lipstick's.

Do you have any favourite Natural Collection product's?

Disco Pant's dupe!

'Disco Pant's'- Love Label at Very / £35

I'm so happy high street stores are bringing out 'dupes' of the American Apparel disco pant's. I love how they look and how they can be worn with so many different thing's.  At £70 I just can't justify it, no matter how much I love them.
I ordered a pair from Ebay a while ago hoping for them to be dupes but un-fortunately they weren't all that good so I never blogged about them. When I saw these from Love Label I thought i'd give them ago to see what they're like. They are perfect.
They do feel and look like trouser's instead of 'wet look leggings' which are often what 'dupes' are like where as I think the disco pant's are more like real trouser's (thicker etc) They're also properly high waisted instead of just sitting normally at the waist like AA's, which for someone short like me is handy!

I will have an outfit post up soon wearing these so it will be easier to see what they look like on, I was too excited that they looked so much like the AA one's I wanted to write up a post.
I love them so much already and they feel really well made and good quality. I even wore them  straight away the same day they arrived.

I think I will be wearing these with so much, especially in winter!

Make-Up Storage / How I store my Make-Up

Drawer's, Homebase
It has taken me absolutely ages to have a way to store my make-up, technically this is the first "real" storage I've had. For year's I stored my make-up in drawer's in my room but it was always so annoying to find something. When I moved house I had a huge clear out so alot of my old make-up was thrown out.
Since I started blogging I've loved seeing other blogger's post's on how they store their make-up and to get idea's on how I'd want to eventually store mine, which is why I wanted to pick up some acryllic drawers (Also after seeing Kim K's too!)I did originally plan on getting the triple drawer's from Homebase but they're so tiny in person there was no way it would be enough space, so I picked these up instead which are actually paper sorter drawer's, they fit perfectly- originally I wanted longer width sideway's but these are so much better for my space.

It fit's nearly everything except a few shadow's I don't use often and all my false eyelashes. I've organised it in eyes, lips and face so I can just go to each drawer easily.
The ocd in me keep's it tidy even more because it's transparent, but I really love my storage- it's so handy to just be able to go and get what I need right away and know everything is kept clean and tidy.

I just slide my portable mirror and brush roll down the side and keep the ones I use nearly everyday in the mug. Along with my most used lipstick's on top and my concealer's slotted in a jam jar with a grand total of... wait for it... one lipgloss also. The Bourjois Healthy Mix is popped on top to remind me to use it more- I brought it last year when load's of bloggers were loving it and it was way to dark for me, It still is but I recently begun using it again and I absolutely love the finish so much!

How do you store your make-up? Any tip's?

Oh Daisy! - What I wore

 Dress- h&mCoat- Primark, Shoes- Ebay

My most worn dress! I picked it up in H&M ages ago, I love it and might attempt to make a dress using this as a pattern. I've been looking for a parka coat for year's now but just never found one I liked or their silly prices, when I saw this in Primark last week I instantly picked it up, I'm definitely going back for the grey one too, I've already worn it two times in a row, it's such a nice coat to just casually wear over absolutely everything when it's cold but not freezing, light enough to just fold in your bag also.

Yes, I may be mad for buying a coat in "summer" but that really doesn't mean anything in England, it's already poured down the both day's I wore this. I'm surprised how versatile it is too, being khaki/green I didn't think it would match with much but it's my favourite item along with my loafer's at the moment.

Anyone else fed up with the storm's? where's summer?!

Thing's this week #1

Company Magazine / OPI's 'Just spotted the lizard' / Revlon lip balm stain / Spiked loafers

Just a little different post today of a few thing's I've picked up at the weekend/last week. I'm in one of my 'saving' money mood's lately so I haven't really brought much. I even made a trip to the beauty supply store and only walked out with 2 thing's- that never happen's!  One of them being this polish from OPI's new spideman collection. I'm a sucker for these limited edtion collection's Mac & Opi bring out, they also had the Minnie Mouse too but I resisted. As soon as I saw this polish I instantly thought of Chanel's Peridot, unfortunately I don't own it so I can't compare but from looking at them they look so similar, will be doing a post of swatches etc soon. I don't have any other polishes like this so It's nice for a change, my first gold polish!
I also reviewed Revlon's lip stain here and love it! I have a post on the spiked loafer's coming up soon too (my new favourites) love anything spiked lately.

Sugar Skull nails Manicure Monday

OPI- 'Be a dahlia won't you?'OPI- 'Alpine Snow', Barry M- 'Strawberry', Elf- 'Gum Pink'

Just realised I've blogged every day since Saturday so far!

After finding the very inspiring Charla Vail's blog on Tumblr a while back this weekend I decided to make Sugar Skull's (post coming soon) and then wanted to paint my nail's, and also ended up painting a sugar skull on them too, I love how it came out though- these really didn't take me long either which I thought they would.

'Be a Dahlia won't you?' is my all time favourite polish, it's just gorgeous and remind's me of 'Let me entertain you' which was ltd Ed and painted at a Salon, so sad I can't pick it up but they're very similar! It sparkles so beautifully in the light like a glitter but is super smooth and dries so quickly.  I decided to use it on the Sugar Skull as the decoration and every time It catches the light it sparkles so nicely. Added some dot's of every colour used just to finish it off too!

What are you wearing on your's nail's this week? Do you like pink polish?

8 July 2012

Week in photo's 24th June- 8th July

Day's make-up, Revlon stain balm's, Pizza yum, Olympic flag's lining the road, Car, Loafers, Much deserved Macci d's, Childhood sweets, ombre, pink tic tacs!, whoopie pies,
and again, Face, stuck in a car park b/c of Carnival, short's, Filled in one eyebrow lol

By the time I remembed to do my weekly round up post last week It was Monday! I'm glad I kept them up  for this long, I just need to remind myself!

My eyebrow's have always been really thick and dark so I've never filled them in but thought I would just to see what they look like, actually quite liked them, even if I did wipe most of it off because I looked so weird, kind'a liked it though!

Also was stuck in a car park for an hour thank's to a local carnival down town yesterday, I never attempt town on Weekend's but the one day I want to pop in Superdrug the carnival's on, bad luck there!

Hope everyone's having a lovely Sunday!

Revlon Just bitten lip balm stain in 'Darling/ Chérie'

'Darling' - Superdrug - £5.99

When I first read about these coming out they automatically reminded me of the Chubby Stick's from Clinique. I wanted to try them way back when they first were realeased but think they're just a tad over priced for what they are, I'd rather but a Mac lipstick for the price.
Like many other item's over here we only have 5-6 shade's compared to the 12 available in America (sadface)

I swatched all of the colour's in store and was actually quite impressed with them, they really do look like a tinted lip balm but actually have really good colour pay off, where as balm's tend to be quite sheer.  I swatched them 6 hour's ago and they're still stained on my hand, I can't compare that to it being on my lip's but show's they stay a while! (apologies for the swatch photo, literally wouldn't come off)
What I love about these are they're a stain but also a balm, which instantly makes me think of longer staying power. Stain's tend to be in 'felt tip pen' form and can be quite drying. I love that Revlon have combined the two for more moisturising in the balm but the stain staying longer.

This shade is quite a lilac/blue pink and when applied to the lip's is darker.

These are effortless and great to just apply and go without worrying about being precise.
Revlon also have a darker red berry shade which will be perfect for winter if you don't like the full on dark lipstick.

At £5.99 I think it's a reasonable price although in Boot's they're currently £8.99, which is a little pricey for a 'drugstore' brand. So Superdrug may have this as an introductory offer.

In the range they also have another bright Barbie pink, a peach/coral and some dark shades. I'm sure everyone will find a shade they like and apply more or less depending on personal preference.

Overall I really love this idea of them being a stain too, they'll be handy to just apply quick and easily on my way to college if I'm in a rush.

Do you like this idea? Are you a fan of lip stain's?

June Empties

Yay for my first 'Empties' post!

Rub,Rub,Rub Lush scrub I received this for Christmas and I love it. It's actually a shower scrub that subtly exfoliates the skin, when it mixes with the water it turn's to a shower gel and goes foamy. I love this stuff so much, it smell's absolutely gorgeous, it's not usually the 'fragrance' I would choose but it remind's me of summer. It is a little bit expensive for the tub size so I only used it occasionally, so gutted it's ran out!

Schwarzkopf BC Shampoo
This is actually a shampoo a hairdresser used on my hair year's ago and I made sure to pick it up at the beauty supply store. It makes your hair super soft, shiny and 'styled' when you use it, exactly like when you walk out of the hairdresser's, the 'My hair's too soft to do anything with'  I only used it on special occasion's when I want my hair to look nice and straighten. It's quite expensive for shampoo at £8? a bottl. I've made it last this long they even made a new design bottle!

Nivea Soft Moisturiser
The only moisturiser I've ever used, I've gone through countless tubes of this. I've recently began to start using Oilatum instead during the day as It's much lighter to wear under make-up and then use the Nivea in the evening.

Superdrug Natural High eye cream
This little tube has lasted me ages and I've already re-purchased it. I originally wanted just a standard eye cream to wear under Bobbi Brown's corrector for easier application. I love how it explain's how each ingredient it beneficial. It also dries instantly which is handy when applying make-up.

GHD Heat Spray
This bottle has lasted me 2 year's, which is crazy. It's actually my second bottle and I love this stuff. Ghd have a few product's which are used in step's but I've only used this, it smell's lovely! I love how it can be used on dry hair because I rarely do the whole hair dry and straighten because my hair goes huge and fluffy. It was only £10 which I think is really good seeing how long it last's. I've been using this since I brought my ghd's which was 5 year's ago (sound's long!) and my hair isn't damaged so I'm pretty sure this stuff work's!

It just so happen's all these product's are all my favourite item's, and all will be re-purchased!

What empties do you have this month?

3 July 2012

What's in my make-up bag

Mac 'Phloof' eyeshadow, Witch blemish concealer, Superdrug eye cream
Rimmel blusher in 'Summer Fever', No 7 2011 Christmas palette ,

I've finally made this post! I've been intending to write it up for month's now I've just never got around to it.

I regularly switch up item's I use but many of these item's have remained in there and used nearly every time I wear make-up. Most of them are my favourite item's.
Thing's I tend to switch day to day are my foundation powder's (either Une or Mac MSFN) blusher's and what eyeshadow's I feel like using(either MUA'S heaven & earth, U.D Naked Palette or Mac's Phloof as highlight's. Nearly always I'll wear the brown shade from No7's palette which is my all time favourite, I've never found a brown neutral lid shade until now and it's perfect for me, I really need to see if they do it permanently so I can stock up.

Link in the comment's if you have done a make-up bag post, I love seeing other peoples favourites!

Would you like to see a review of any of these product's?
